Sunset acres

A resident-owned community

Welcome Home!

Sunset Acres is a resident-owned manufactured home community in Plainville, MA, for residents aged 55 and over. Sunset Acres is conveniently located between Boston and Providence, R.I., with easy access to interstates 95 and 495. Though we enjoy the tranquility of a small town, we also have access to shopping centers, sports arenas, restaurants, golf courses and casinos nearby. We enjoy hiking, outdoor picnics and the petting zoo at the WWI Memorial Park, a five-minute drive from our community.

An Unlikely Story Bookstore and Plainville’s very active Senior Center are also located nearby. The Norton Institute for Continuing Education and The Martin Institute both offer lectures and courses designed specifically for seniors.  Our community offers a beautiful location with plenty of amenities.

Sunset Acres is owned by the Community Members who live here – we are a resident-owned community (ROC).

Sunset Acres

is owned by the Association
Members who
live here.

That means

we control
the rent & make
the rules

We own it

The Member homeowners of Sunset Acres control the rent and make the rules. On July 15, 2020, the Sunset Acres Residents Association, Inc.,  purchased the land and infrastructure, such as the roads and water lines. Now, a democratically elected Board of Directors manages the business of running Sunset Acres. Every Member household in the community has a say in who sits on the Board, how we spend our money, the annual budget, and whether we make changes to the rent.

We’re also part of a national network of more than 250 ROCs just like us. That membership provides us with access to expert coaching on how to run our ROC, leadership development and training, communication with dozens of community leaders who face many of the same issues we do, and more. Life in Sunset Acres is truly different than in a commercially owned community – we invite you to find out firsthand how that difference makes living here so much better.
